We have a brand new takeover month here on Sonic Academy, and this time we are taking on the amazing, groovy, glitter-laden world of House!
We deep dive into all things House related, from creating wicked grooves, how to find really amazing records to sample, making a House monster from start to finish, and finally understanding the all the essential elements of House music you need to know!
The Masterclass
We pulled in Mr House himself here on Sonic, Ableton certified trainer P-LASK and tasked him with building a cutting edge playlist to show you the common elements that make up House in 2024. He will cover everything from creating your first drum tracks, writing and recording infectious house piano hooks, to mixing and mastering this House banger. This is the perfect easy-to-understand guide for those wanting to get into house, or even for the seasoned producer to get a greater understanding of the genre.
The Remix Competition

We kickstart the takeover this week with a course on crate digging using Tracklib presented by Sonic Academy's very own Protoculture.
Following up hot on its heels is a LIVE SHOW on Wednesday 20th March @ 7 pm GMT where Phil and Chris will be listening in on some of your work in progress for the House Takeover Remix Competition.

26th March
First up this week we will take an in-depth look at swing and shuffle with our course on House Grooves with Dirty Secretz.
Thursday 28th we will look at our Classic House Essentials Tech Tips. We look at building the drums using some classic 909 hits before checking out the iconic synths used and creating some classic synth and bass patterns.
We also look at how to get the right vocals to sit in the mix and making our tracks sound like they're from that era using atmosphere and effects along with how to create our own tension building risers to get the floor pumping.
