Course description
This week, Larry Holcombe returns to break down how to create that quintessential distorted Darkwave bass sound using ANA 2.
Starting with the MIDI pattern behind the demo, we then dive deep into the sound design process — using FM synthesis to introduce rich harmonic content, the G-Envelope for evolving movement and texture, plus ANA 2’s built-in distortion, delay, and reverb effects to shape the character of the sound.
From there, we take the patch further with EQ and multiband limiting, and assign macros for added expression and real-time modulation possibilities.
The end result is a retro-inspired, gritty bass patch that can just as easily double as a cutting lead sound when played in higher octaves, making it a versatile tool across multiple genres.
