UMEK
In his home country of Slovenia, UMEK is often referred to as "Fotr", which in translation means "The Father". He earned that nickname for playing a crucial row in the evolution of the regional electronic music scene.
More than 25 years ago he decided to quit school and his promising basketball career to go all in and become a professional DJ. He was regularly taking bus trips to Austria to buy vinyls and soon he became known for seamlessly controlling 4 decks as if this was something he was born to do. And he probably was.
UMEK today is one of the most prolific techno producers with numerous awards under his belt and a relentlessly touring DJ with up to 120 gigs per year. He has traveled the world and ticked off most of the clubs and festivals from his bucket list, including Space Ibiza, Pacha, Berghain, Beta, El Row, Mayday, Tomorrowland, EDC and Ultra, while releasing tracks on pretty much every prominent label out there, including his own imprint 1605.
